OPENING FRIDAY 1 OCT AT 6–9 PM

The exhibition Eyes in the Maze is a result of a collaboration between two artist-run galleries in Sweden and Finland. Six Swedish artists exhibited at Galleria Huuto in Helsinki in the spring of 2020, and now six Finnish artists show their art in Galleri 54 in Gothenburg.

Eyes in the Maze has been inspired by the main theme of intertwining and the maze in GIBCA's extended program – "I think, so I am part of the maze" (Inger Christensen). The artists use a very varied visual language in their work. They are in different stages of the maze, and each give hints of their position as seen with their own eyes. One can never be sure of what awaits in the next passage in the labyrinth. The exhibition presents sculptures, paintings, drawings, installations and animation.

The participating artists are Päivi Allonen, Terhi Heino, Gunzi Holmström, Salla Järvinen-Sirén, Aleksi Martikainen and Kaarina Ormio.

The exhibition is supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, FRAME Contemporary Art Finland, the Cultural Foundation for Sweden and Finland and the Letterstedtska Association.
